The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has issued a final reminder to all free and subsidized electricity consumers to link their Aadhaar number with their electricity connection number by tomorrow. The Central Government had instructed the electricity board to initiate the process of linking Aadhaar numbers with electricity connection numbers in November last year, and the process began on November 15.
To facilitate the linking process, special counters were set up in 2,811 power division offices across Tamil Nadu. Initially, December 31 was announced as the last day to link Aadhaar. However, as many people failed to link their Aadhaar number within the stipulated time, the deadline was extended to January 31 and then to February 15. So far, 99 percent of electricity consumers have linked their Aadhaar number with their electricity connection.
However, tomorrow marks the end of the extended deadline, and the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has made it clear that no more time will be given. Therefore, electricity consumers who have not yet linked their Aadhaar number with their electricity connection number are urged to do so as soon as possible to avoid any inconvenience in the future. The linking of Aadhaar numbers is crucial for the efficient and transparent delivery of electricity services to all consumers.
