A total of 4683 candidates have applied to study graduate Indian Medical Courses, including Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, and Homeopathy, for the current Academic Year 2023-24. The applications are currently being scrutinized, and the `rank` or `merit` list will be released shortly.
There are 330 seats available for pursuing Indian Medical graduate courses in 5 Government Colleges in the State of Tamil Nadu, functioning under the Indian Government Department of Medical and Homeopathy. Out of these 330 seats, 50 seats are allocated for the All India Quota, while the remaining 280 seats are filled up by the State Government of Tamil Nadu.
In addition, there are 1820 seats available in private colleges offering graduate Indian Medical courses. Out of these, 15% is allocated as the All India Quota. For the remaining seats, 65% is allotted for the State Government, and 35% is allocated for the administration quota.
The State Government of Tamil Nadu is conducting the counseling for seats under the State Government quota, Administration quota, and the All India Quota. Meanwhile, the Central Government is organizing the counseling for the 15% seats available under the All India Quota for admission in the Government Colleges.
In this scenario, the distribution of applications commenced online on the official website of the Central Government Department of Health for graduate courses in Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, and Homeopathy (BSMS, BAMS, BUMS, and BHMS) for the Academic Year 2023-24.
Students who had passed NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test) downloaded the application forms, filled them with all required particulars, attached the requisite documents and certificates, and submitted the filled application forms online.
In this regard, Pa. Malarvizhi, the Chairman of the Department of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy Selection Committee, shared, “2689 candidates have applied for the 1226 seats available for graduate medical courses in Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, and Homeopathy. 1048 candidates have applied for the 558 seats in the Administration Quota, and 946 candidates have applied for the 313 seats in the All India Quota. Currently, the application scrutiny is in progress, and the `merit` or `rank` list will be released shortly. The counseling will be organized before the end of September.”
