Tamil Nadu Chief Election Officer, Satyapradha Sahu, has announced that corrections to the voters` list will be organized from October 17th to October 30th. During this correction period, tasks such as adding or deleting names will be facilitated.
The notification released by the Tamil Nadu Chief Election Officer states:
“The Election Commission has announced that the voters` list will be updated with photos based on the registration of citizens who turn 19 years old as of January 1st, 2024.
To accomplish this, staff members will be responsible for conducting house-to-house visits and checking the voters` lists from July 21st to August 21st. Subsequently, from August 17th to September 29th, the staff will renovate the polling booths, address controversies in the voters` list (such as incorrect names and photographs), remove low-quality photos, rectify the boundaries of polling booths, identify and reduce gaps, and establish a schedule.
Draft voters` list:
The draft voters` list will be released on October 17th. From that day onwards, corrections such as adding or deleting names and changing addresses can be applied for until November 30th. These issues will be corrected by December 26th.
The Final Draft Voters` List will be released on January 5th, 2024.
During the correction process for including photos on the voters` list, voter additions can also be made. Forms 6, 6B, 7, or 8 can be filled out and submitted for the addition or deletion of names, correction of name spelling, change of address, and linking with Aadhar card.
Applications must be submitted on working days to the Polling Booth officer or the Polling Booth Registration Officers. Address proof, age proof, and, for applicants under the age of 25, proof of age must be provided for adding names to the voters` list.
