In some persons, the glucose would get built up in their bloodstream and as a result of that blood sugar levels of the person would increase or spike. Truth is that this increase in blood sugar levels might happen after eating. This is really a serious issue and it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. If untreated, then the person could get serious health problems like heart issues, kidney issues, eyesight issues etc.  There are certain foods that could lead to increased blood sugar levels in us and we must be careful about those foods.

Various foods that can increase our blood sugar levels are

Intake of quick cooked oatmeal:
Not many of us would be aware of the fact that intake of this food could lead to an increase in the blood sugar levels. Normally, oatmeal is considered as a healthy food for weight loss etc.

Intake of orange juice:
It is true that drinking orange juice (without fibre of the fruit that could slowdown the starch breakdown into glucose)can also result in an increase in the blood sugar levels.

Intake of white and wholegrain breads:
Many of us eat white and wholegrain bread without knowing that these could lead to increased blood sugar levels. This is due to the high glycemic index or GI of these foods.

Intake of soup from restaurants:
There are lots of added sugars present in the soups prepared in the restaurants, The added sugars could make the blood sugar levels increase.

 Intake of grapes:
Low in fibre content but high in sugars. Hence, consuming grapes can also cause a spike in the blood sugar levels.

Intake of energy bars:
Packed energy bars would contain lots of sugars and carbohydrates in them. This would cause the blood sugar levels to rise.

Intake of brown rice:
Eating brown rice could provide us with many health benefits like good for digestion, controlling cholesterol levels, good for bone health etc. It must be noted that brown rice intake could also lead to a spike in the blood sugar levels and this is due to the presence of huge amounts of carbohydrates in  the brown rice.

Intake of sweweet potatoes:
If you consume sweet potatoes, then there are chances of a spike in the blood sugar levels. The presence of starch in sweet potatoes could increase blood sugar levels.

Intake of coffee:
By triggering the hormonal response in the body, drinking coffee could lead to an increase in the blood sugar levels in us.

Intake of dried fruits:
Many of us would not be aware of the fact that intake of dried fruits could lead to spikes in the blood sugar levels also. In the drying process, some food makers would add sugars to dry fruits and calories would get added up by eating dry fruits in one sitting.

Intake of diet soda:
There are possibilities that consuming diet soda could lead to a spike in the blood sugar levels in us. A new research study has revealed this.
