The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of mild to medium rain with thunder today (Wednesday, 22nd March) in one or two places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal.
In a notification released by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, it is mentioned that the easterly and westerly winds are set to meet each other in the lower layers of the atmosphere over the South India region, which is leading to the prospects of mild to medium rain with thunder in one or two places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal.
Further, it is expected that there will be mild to medium rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal for three days from 23rd March to 25th March.
Regarding the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, the sky will remain somewhat cloudy today (Wednesday, 22nd March), with prospects of mild to medium rain with thunder in a few places in the city. The maximum temperature will be 34 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be 24 degrees Celsius.
Over the last 24 hours, as of 8.30 AM yesterday (Tuesday, 21st March), the rainfall recorded in cm in various places was: Thiruvannamalai District Polur and Virudhunagar District Sathur – 7 each, Ramanathapuram District Mandapam, Thiruvallur District Gummidippundi – 6 each, Thiruvallur District Sengundram, Puzhal, Madhavaram, Salem District Danishpettai – 5 each.
